Restorative Concepts

Restorative practice is a range of interventions that are effective in managing conflict, repairing harm, and developing strong relationships that help prevent and overcome contention in all areas of society, including communities, schools and the workplace. Restorative practice differs from mediation because it involves instances where there has been acknowledged harm caused by one party to another and the dialogue is around defining the harm and the impact as well as how to make amends.

Restorative Justice is the term used for restorative practices employed within the criminal justice system.

The Thames Valley Restorative Justice Service’s (TVRJS) vision is of a society where everyone has access to safe, high quality restorative practice wherever and whenever it is needed.
